Unit 10: Summation

My Unit 3 assessment still holds true today.  There is much deeper meaning in all areas but I remain a 7 which I predicted.  I did and still feel that the more I know doesn’t change my rating since there is always lots of room for improvement as Olympian Fitness has no limits.  The only thing that could happen is I could drop down but right now I’m so motivated to achieve the best health possible that I doubt that will happen.

I’ve exceeded my meditation goals and the practice has become more frequent than I had predicted.  I’ve not been able to share my meditation experiences with my husband as he just doesn’t get it.  He’s a wonderful man but he’s not feeling it.  I’ll continue up my own ladder.  He’ll get interested soon.  I love that short sessions are possible and that I can calm the mind even in the midst of an encounter.  My nutrition remains sound.  My exercise routine is sporadic but I’m covering the bases with short sessions.  I struggle with a fitness routine being a habit.  I think alternating activities will help my boredom.  I’m mentally in a good place.  I’ve settled into a good doable plan and I’m not far from making it happen.

I have definitely improved my well-being as a result of this class.  I’ve made it a life-style change so I often forget that I’m in a class.  I’ll say “I don’t have to keep doing this.  It’s just a class.”  Then I ask myself “why not?  It’s working for me!”  My reward is better relationships with others.  I’ve seen differences in my plan of attack and also my reactions when dealing with others.  Less drama for me and when I don’t participate in it people stop talking about it.  They calm down since I’m not adding to their craziness.  My health is better.  I have a peace.  I do find long meditation sessions very difficult.  I can’t last 30 minutes or even 15.  I’ll continue with 5 minutes many times per day and work from there.  It seems to be working fine for me.

This whole experience has already helped me deal with others.  Some want to ask questions and discuss their own experiences and listen to mine.  I also find some are not interested at all and I’m experiencing a more distant relationship with some.  Maybe it’s simply none of my business!  Or maybe they are hiding from something and don’t want to address their issues.  That’s ok too.  My interpersonal relationships are changing and I believe that’s a good thing.

  1. Hi KAren, I think it is great this class has helped you so much!!! I love less drama! It is so peaceful isn't it! :) I can't say I will be practicing anything from this class in the future but I will continue to do what has been working for me so far. Once you find something that truly helps you focus and ease your mind it is wonderful to keep at it and build from there. As the class discussed it is mental exercise. THe more you do the more you can build upon. THank you for your honesty in your post and I pray you have great success in life!

I am very glad for you that you have been able to master this area, it must feel very good. Once you get this level of harmony with yourself and others, Integral Health automatically follows. Good job.

  4. Hi Karen,
I am so happy to hear that your well-being has improved because of this class! I also do the 5 minute meditation instead of the long 30 minute ones. Honestly finding time for those long sessions is just not going to happen in life. I wish you nothing but the best in the rest of your studies!!

  6. Hi Karen,

I love your honesty, and I can also tell like LaDonna, this class has been good for you. At first, I really did not think I could make it in this class, but I held on. When I would read some of your blogs, along with a few other classmates, it inspired me to hold on. Best wishes to you, and may you continue to keep that beautiful spirit you have. I am so happy to have met a wonderful lady like you.

  8. That's so great that you are able to take something from this class and add it to your daily life. I too have been inspired by this class and continue to stay strong as I go through my current limitations. I also cant meditate longer than 5-10 minutes, in all honesty I get bored and very tired. I don't think napping a couple times through the day is what was intended...lol. I wish all the best in the future and keep up with your meditation , I'm sure your husband will come around.

  9. Hi Karen,
It's fantastic you've gotten so much out of this course! It sounds as if you've made some huge strides forward towards your goals.

My husband isn't feeling the meditation either! In fact, I think he thinks I've gone a bit nuts with it, but I think he might come around eventually if he sees it working. It's something you can do only when you're ready and evidently our menfolks aren't ready yet! :-)

    1. lol. You got that right. Mine is thinking I'm nuts also and he hasn't been in the mental state to listen to my story. We'll just need to keep working on these guys. Thanks for participating in a great class. It was fun watching the growth of so many. Enjoy.

  11. I know the feeling with your husband not being on board, mine is the same way. I found the Shambhala center about 25 minutes from us and I want to get our daughter into the children's meditation class, but he thinks that it stupid and not worth it. But, I plan on trying and seeing if it helps in the future for her to maintain positive vibes.

  12. Karen,
I think we have all taken something of value away from this course, even those of us who were a little skeptical at first. I really thought this unit was somewhat redundant since I felt I answered all of this much better in the unit 9 project. I have appreciated your friendship and please look me up on Facebook as Denise Rippeon Toms. I would love to stay in touch with you.
